The Father of Heavenly Lights

by Lisa Stormes Hawker

In December of 2008, my brother-in-law Dave passed away suddenly. We had his funeral at the chapel at Cherry Hills Community Church, a photo of which is at left, with its beautiful exposed wood rafters, stone walls and vivid stained glass.

The day of Dave’s funeral, just a week before Christmas, the Holy Spirit filled the chapel, transforming it and bathing it in light. Todd Lansing took the photo below, with brilliant sunlight pouring through the stained glass. As you can see, the light touched Dave’s casket.

There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign forever and ever. Revelation 22:5

  1. Beautiful photo and a great memory of your brother, Lisa. That was truly a gift from God.

  2. Faith Donaldson says:

I love the amazing heart of God. His Divine glory is astounding but his faithfulness to pour out comfort upon the brokenhearted is profound evidence of who He is . . .love. \

    Thank you for sharing this.
